Tryptic Soy Broth, TSB
500g, fine powder, up to make 16L liquid media.
Aliases: Soybean Casein Digest Medium, Tryptone Soya Broth
General-purpose liquid culture medium, supports the growth of a broad range of aerobic and facultative anaerobic bacteria and fungi. It is composed of enzymatic digests of soybean meal and casein, which provide essential amino acids and nitrogenous compounds. TSB is frequently used for sterility testing, cultivating fastidious microorganisms, and as a pre-enrichment broth for various microbial tests in the food, pharmaceutical, and clinical industries.
Common Applications
Sterility Testing
Detects microbial contamination in pharmaceuticals, cosmetics, and medical devices.
Cultivation of Microorganisms
Supports growth of fastidious and non-fastidious organisms, including biofilm-forming strains.
Pre-enrichment
Used in food and clinical microbiology to enhance recovery of stressed or low-level organisms.
Inoculum Preparation
Ideal for preparing standardized inocula for antimicrobial susceptibility testing.
Biofilm Studies
Facilitates biofilm formation for structural and resistance analysis.
