Instruction
1Select the pH point matching the protocol rather than titrating a general stock in-house.
2Dilute the 1 M stock to the required working Tris concentration.
3Check pH at the protocol temperature where temperature sensitivity is important.
4Use pH 6.8 and pH 8.8 SDS-PAGE-labelled variants where gel-casting documentation is desired.
Note
- Tris has a strong temperature coefficient. A pH measured at 25 deg C will shift at 4 deg C or 37 deg C.
Cautions
Caution. Tris can interfere with amine-reactive crosslinking, Bradford/BCA assays, and some enzyme systems.
Caution. Do not substitute Tris for Good's buffers in metal-sensitive workflows without validation.
Storage and Expiry · Safety
- Store at room temperature or 2-8 deg C.
- Unopened shelf life: 24 months from manufacture after QC validation.
- Transport. Ships at ambient temperature; no cold chain required. Protect from freezing and from temperatures above 40 deg C.
- Handling and PPE. Wear a laboratory coat, nitrile gloves, and safety glasses for routine handling. Tris is a mild irritant; avoid eye contact. Consult the Safety Data Sheet before use.
