[1]  Streptococcus hemolyticus is a facultative anaerobe. It is capable of aerobic respiration in the presence of oxygen, but can also generate energy through fermentation under oxygen-limited conditions. These organisms grow well in aerobic environments; however, under anaerobic conditions, their hemolytic activity may become more.
