FAQ
Difference between industrial-grade and reagent-grade soy peptone
The visible difference is the clarity of the solution.
Reagent-Grade: in a 2% water solution, there are no impurities or precipitates under alkaline and high-pressure conditions, or under phosphate and high-pressure conditions. Microbiological parameters of the product are at an excellent level.
Industrial-Grade: in a 2% water solution, there are precipitates under alkaline and high-pressure conditions, and there are impurities and precipitates under phosphate and high-pressure conditions. Microbiological parameters of the product are at a normal level.
The precipitates observed in our Industrial-Grade formulations are primarily peptides near their isoelectric point (pI). These peptides are readily digested and utilised by protease-secreting microbes such as Pichia and Saccharomyces, and therefore do not negatively impact culturing yields.
Reagent-grade products are recommended for applications requiring stringent quality standards, such as medical diagnostics, therapeutic development, or high-precision and high-fidelity research.
Industrial-grade products are well-suited for general microbial nutrition, particularly in contexts such as protein scale-expression processes.
